Case 2 (09/03/2025): 6-year-old male child with complaints of nonspecific abdominal pain for 6 months. His blood and urine investigations were unremarkable. USG and CECT images are provided. PET CT done (not provided) did not reveal any other lesion in other organs. What is your diagnosis?

ANSWER: LEFT PARASPINAL GANGLIONEUROMA
Ganglioneuromas are derived from the primordial neural crest cells that form the sympathetic nervous system. They most commonly arise in the paravertebral sympathetic chains of the posterior mediastinum or retroperitoneum.
Ganglioneuromas tend to occur in the paediatric population (Median age-7yrs).
Well-defined solid masses
20% lesions demonstrate calcifications, typically fine and speckled.
Contrast enhancement ranges from none to heterogeneous enhancement.
Treatment consists of complete surgical resection.
P.S – Hydronephrosis in this case was due to mass effect on the ureter.
