Vulval neoplasms are rare and mostly seen in post-menopausal women. Melanomas of the vulva are staged as cutaneous melanoma.
Ideally malignant melanoma has a T1 high signal due to presence of melanin, however the signal might vary depending on the melanin content and stage of hemorrhage.
Malignant melanoma should be considered in a vulval mass with high signal intensity on T1W1 and intense vascularity on colour doppler.
Treatment involves surgical excision, radiotherapy or systemic chemotherapy.
