In Memoriam

Dr S. Vivekanandan  (1961 to 2024)

It is with profound sadness that we record the passing away of Dr S. Vivekanandan, Consultant Radiologist & Director of Srivari Scan Centre, Coimbatore on 08.03.2024 after a brief illness.

Dr S. Vivekanandan completed his schooling in Kikani Higher Secondary school and Pre-university with B.Sc Biochemistry from PSG Arts & Science College, Coimbatore. He joined MBBS in Coimbatore Medical College in the year 1983. He completed DMRD in Barnard Institute of Radiology, Madras Medical College in the year 1992.

He started Srivari Scan Centre, a dedicated Ultrasound scan centre in the year 1996, only the third independent Ultrasound scan centre in Coimbatore at that time, after receiving training from Dr S. Boopathy Vijayaraghavan of Sonoscans and Dr S. Suresh of Mediscans. 

A regular faculty in various conferences, Dr S. Vivekanadan delivered many lectures in Obstetric ultrasound, Small parts imaging and Colour Doppler. He was President of Coimbatore Ultrasound Society for 4 years, Secretary of Coimbatore IRIA subchapter from 2013-2014 and President of subchapter from 2015-2016. His enthusiasm for academics and his amicability were always cherished by his peers. 

A soft spoken gentleman with a love for music, his warm presence and wise counsel will be greatly missed by the Radiology fraternity of the state. 

He is survived by his wife Mrs Dr V. M. Shanthi, PhD, retired Professor of Civil Engineering from Govt. Engineering College, mother, a younger brother and sister.
